Karnataka Records 24 New COVID-19 Cases; Bengaluru Urban District Takes the Lead

Karnataka reported 24 fresh Covid-19 cases, with Bengaluru urban district accounting for 23, bringing the cumulative figure to 40,89,174. The state conducted 2,263 tests, including 1,791 RT-PCR. Currently, there are 105 active cases, with 93 in Bengaluru. Among these, 85 are under home isolation, and 20 are hospitalized, with nine in the ICU. In Goa, the JN.1 subvariant was found in 19 samples, clarified as old and inactive cases. The state has 16 active COVID-19 cases, including four new detections.

In the latest update, Karnataka reported 24 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 40,89,174 since the onset of the pandemic, according to the health department. The state government has intensified testing efforts, conducting 2,263 tests, including 1,791 RT-PCR tests. With 105 active cases in the state, 11 patients were discharged on the same day.

JN.1 Subvariant Detected in Goa, Health Officials Clarify: Old Cases, No Active Infections

Bengaluru urban district saw 23 of the new cases, contributing to the city’s total of 93 active cases. The district also underwent the highest number of tests (1,540) compared to others in the state. In addition, Dakshina Kannada district, bordering Kerala, reported a single case.

Out of the 105 cases, 85 individuals are under home isolation, while 20 have been hospitalized, including nine in the ICU.

Meanwhile, the JN.1 sub-variant of Covid-19 was identified in 19 samples in Goa. However, health officials clarified that these cases are no longer active, as they belong to old cases with mild symptoms. The variant was detected during genome sequencing of samples collected over time.

As of the latest update, Goa has 16 active Covid-19 cases, including four newly detected cases. The state’s Directorate of Health Services conducted tests on 193 samples on the reported day.
