Rajawat is set to compete against Chi Yu Jen from Chinese Taipei in the semi-final.
On Friday, Priyanshu Rajawat smoothly advanced to the men’s singles semi-final at the Syed Modi International tournament in Lucknow. Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles quarter-finals, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto defeated compatriots Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand to secure a spot in the last-four.
In the men’s singles quarter-final against Indonesian qualifier Alwi Farhan, Rajawat initially took a commanding 5-0 and 11-6 lead. Despite Hasan narrowing the gap to 15-14, Rajawat regained control, winning five consecutive points to claim the game 21-15. The second game saw Rajawat facing some resistance, but he ultimately triumphed 21-15, 21-6. He is set to face Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen in the semi-final.
In the women’s doubles quarter-finals, fourth seeds Treesa and Gayatri initially led 13-7, but seventh seeds Ponnappa and Crasto staged a comeback, winning five consecutive points to take the first game 21-19. The second game saw Ponnappa and Crasto dominate with a 12-0 lead, eventually securing a comfortable 21-19, 21-8 victory. They will now face the winner of the match between Japanese top seeds Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota and German eighth seeds Linda Efler-Isabel Lohau in the semi-finals.
